We’re
committed to creating a bright future for communities in Stockbridge
Village and Fitton Hill – and to making sure people of all
backgrounds have equal opportunities to become Villages tenants.
We also want more tenants to take an active role in communities
on both estates – whether it’s by joining the board,
or tenants’ associations, or getting involved in more informal
activities.
Popular annual initiatives like the pantomimes and the mug and calendar
design competitions will continue as we use art and sport to get
more young people involved in the community. We’ll be backing
national events like the ‘Big Draw’ in Stockbridge Village
as well as Fitton Hill and maintaining support for local events
arranged by the Tenants’ Forum.
There’ll be new events too to complement existing activities
on the two estates – including possible joint projects to
link tenants in Oldham and Knowsley. We’re also planning to
develop effective partnerships to tackle anti social behaviour –
another of the concerns raised by surveyed tenants.
A sense of community is vital to sustain thriving estates and dozens
of local initiatives have benefited directly from Villages’
funding. We’ve launched our own community projects too. |
